Knygos aprašymas

The advent of the internet has brought about a paradigm shift in the commercial landscape of the globe. On the one hand, it has created a plethora of opportunities for the businesses to reach out a worldwide base of clients while on the other hand it had also benefited the consumers by giving them differentiated products at very reasonable prices. However, the anonymous and the ubiquitous nature of the internet has also presented a plethora of challenges particularly with respect to consumer protection. The asymmetry of information, problems of jurisdiction and the inability of the domestic laws to deal with these complex issues have necessitated an effective and efficacious mechanism for redressing the consumer grievances to preserve and protect the consumer rights and maintain an amicable relationship between the consumers and the businesses. Online Dispute Resolution ( ODR) is the use of ICTs for the resolution of the disputes and works by integrating technology as information management and communication tool for the resolution of disputes. This book studies the various facets of ODR and portrays its importance in facilitating consumer access to justice in e-commerce.
