Knygos aprašymas

From the Author I write books, both fiction and nonfiction. And I know from writing books that some ideas, such as the story of Jack and Larry, take decades to work their way into story form. And some, like She's on First, land in the consciousness almost fully formed, awaiting only my fingers on the keyboard. But the writing of poetry surprised me, first because the thoughts and feelings that worked their way into the poems go very far back -- farther than any fiction or nonfiction. Some of these poems go back to my three-year-old self. Others are based on a mere moment in time, recollected fully and shaped into poetic form. In writing the poems that I put into Crossing the Skyway, I came to believe that we all have within us poetry waiting to bloom. Product Description Throughout this collection of accessible poems (both new and previously published) about nature, family, self-awareness, and the decay of capitalism, there is a unity of vision and a strong sense of justice. Barbara Gregorich writes with humor and playfulness as well, with quirky takes on subjects such as foul balls, driving on twisty roads, and making conversation. About the Author Barbara Gregorich has written nonfiction books such as the award-winning Women at Play: The Story of Women in Baseball and the writing how-to, Guide to Writing the Mystery Novel: Lots of Examples, Plus Dead Bodies. Her fiction includes the highly acclaimed novel, She's on First and two mysteries: Dirty Proof and Sound Proof.Gregorich has written a free verse nonfiction book, Jack and Larry: The Story of Jack Graney and Larry, the Cleveland Baseball Dog, for all ages. Crossing the Skyway is her first collection of poetry. A member of the Author's Guild, the Mystery Writers of America, and the Society for American Baseball Research, Gregorich lives in Chicago.
