Begun grudgingly, the project totally absorbed me within a week. These were not just stories, they were the seminal events that shaped my life as educator and community engaged sociologist. More than a decade later, it seems to me they may be more than this. They also provide glimpses of the hidden workings of society. Like one of the blind questions in the Parable of the Elephant, it privileges me, therefore, humbly to offer my sensations of it as pieces of the puzzle that is our culture.
