Robert H. Jackson. PhD (University of California, Berkeley in 1988) is an independent scholar in Mexico City. His most recent publication is Regional Conflict and Demographic Patterns on the Jesuit Missions among the Guaraní in the Seventeenth and Eighteenth Centuries (Brill, 2019).

This study documents the role of the members of the Society of Jesus in the spiritual and educational life of Spanish American cities, as administrators of frontier missions. In 1767, the King of Spain ordered the expulsion of the Jesuits from his territories, and those that survived the journey to Europe ended in exile in the Papal States.
