The ongoing coronavirus disease -2019 (COVID-19) pandemic continues to challenge the public health authorities and all the sectors. A lot needs to be done to contain the outbreak of the novel virus infection and this calls for the need to strengthen the public health emergency response. This includes early detection of the case, isolation of the confirmed cases, contact tracing, strengthening of the surveillance system, expansion of the laboratory facilities, adherence to the infection prevention and control measures, etc. Since the launch of the COVID-19 vaccines, there has been a need to maintain the potency of vaccines through maintenance of the cold chain, and ensure injection safety among all the recipients.
