From her brutalization at eleven at the hands of soldiers who then killed her mother in front of her, Terrorbelle has had a rough life. From a child who wanted nothing more than vengeance, Terrorbelle grew and matured, learning discipline, sacrifice, and honor. She survived and fought back, becoming a soldier then a Daemor, one of Mab's elite female warriors. Along the way, she learns that the dead can still love; to always look a ride offering horse in the mouth, especially when it can swim; that her heart's desire isn't all it's cracked up to be; on the battlefield and in a trench in the dark, people are all the same; a diplomatic mission to an underwater city is no place for someone whose body is too dense to float; sometimes it is difficult to pick which is the lesser of two evils; and even when served cold, revenge can still choke you.
