Knygos aprašymas

Review A portion of all royalties from the sale of The Betrayal of Lily Connors will be donated to trafficking victims. Thank you for your support. I was privileged to read this fascinating novel during the final editing process. The author desired my opinion on the character and reactions of the pastor in the book due to my fifty-two years of ministry experience. After reading the first few chapters, I was hooked and I my usual reading list does not include books of this genre. The suspense continues throughout the development of the story and even as I neared the end of the book I was still expecting yet another surprise turn of events. The story is well conceived and well written.. This plot addresses the enormous and heart breaking problem of human trafficking--an issue on which many people are sadly uninformed. Not only does John Horst shine a much needed light on this tragedy, but he has personally stepped up to give aid and support to agencies that seek to address this issue through donation of some of the proceeds from the sale of the book to those causes. Here you will find a truly engrossing plot and at the same time do something positive to help those who are being victimized by this unimaginable horror. David E. Mitchell Product Description Forty-two-year-old accountant and mother of two teenage girls, Lily Connors has enjoyed a pleasant life on her eastern shore horse farm. Everything is more or less as it should be until the body of Bear Connors, her husband of nearly twenty years, is discovered in a sunken Mercedes SUV titled to a shadowy export company in New Jersey. The corpse of a Russian sex trafficker has been found in Bear's Suburban. With the assistance of an intriguing Russian FBI agent, Lily must solve the case before it takes the lives of those dearest to her. But nothing in Lily’s vast life experience has prepared her for the possibility of a fresh romance and the realization that someone from the church community could be involved in her husband’s criminal enterprises, or capable of murder. Relying on her faith and the support of her family, Lily learns the truth, finding a lasting love and a strengthened commitment to God. From the Author According to the FBI, human trafficking is the third largest criminal activity in the world. It affects both native-born Americans and foreigners alike. Human trafficking denigrates both children and adults through forced labor and sexual exploitation. Many of the victims do not survive captivity. If they do, more often than not they become so damaged that they have difficulty integrating back into society. The single most effective way to combat this affliction is through the involvement of faith based organizations to assist victims and bring to society's attention the existence of these practices, which are occurring at an alarming rate as our global population progresses toward instability and poverty continues to afflict a growing number of the world's developing countries. The author encourages the reader to work withreligious leaders at your places of worship and in your community to reach outto organizations, such as the ones listed below: Coalition toAbolish Slavery and Trafficking, (CAST) Operation Underground Railroad Girls Educational and Mentoring Services,(GEMS) Agape International Missions Christiannetwork that combats human trafficking (COATNET) Faith Alliance Against Slavery and Trafficking (FAAST) About the Author John Horst was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and studied philosophy at Loyola College.
