Product Description
Young William Buckley is struggling to become a man marked by discipleship to his Lord and Savior. Torn between the heroism of his warrior uncle, and tender love of his grandmother he fights to find his way. The fight is especially difficult since both have departed this world. He takes impossible risks to prove he can conquer fear. In the end he learns that being a man is doing what is right regardless of personal cost. Discovering the courage to do the right thing takes him on an amazing adventure with his two best friends, Roger and Rex. Set in north central Indiana on beautiful Lake Maxinkuckee in the late 1960’s the three boys thunder through Marshall County and unravel a mystery that takes them all the way to Chicago to face a powerful and sinister crime boss. Near death experiences thrust them into situations where doing the right thing could cost them their very lives. In the end William finds his way toward balance between being a warrior and a true disciple as he and his friends learn the true measure of manhood.
About the Author
Author William Bennett served as a bi-vocational minister for thirty-seven years, taught eighth grade English and U.S. History, and served as a special deputy sheriff, marine search and rescue, shore and lake patrol, on Lake Maxinkuckee where he spent his boyhood. His knowledge of the lakes, streams, and rivers of northern and southern Indiana runs deep. Whether diving to the deepest part of the lake at 80 feet, boating, sailing, skiing, on the lake, or canoeing up and down the rivers, the experiences have shaped his life and inspired his writing. William grew up in Culver, Indiana and attended school at Culver Community Schools. After graduating from high school he went on to Chicago to Moody Bible Institute where he met and married his lovely wife Cathy. They were married in 1974, raised three children, and currently have six grandchildren. William now works with Grace Resources, Inc. in Lancaster, California and spends every possible moment of his free time writing.
